Position: Natural Resource/Recycling Crew Corpsmember

Conservation Corps North Bay (CCNB) was the first local conservation corps in the country, founded in 1982. Throughout the years, corpsmembers at CCNB have built and maintained miles of trails, removed tons of non-native and fire-hazard vegetation, cleared creeks of obstructions for flood control, restored riparian and terrestrial habitats, removed thousands of pounds of trash from local creeks and open space and collected and recycled thousands of pounds of materials throughout the entire county. Over 3000 corpsmembers have been through CCNB's program since its inception. Today corpsmembers continue this work for most of the resource agencies across Marin County. Working with agencies such as the Marin Municipal Water District, Marin County Open Space District, Point Reyes National Seashore, Golden Gate National Recreation Area and many others, corpsmembers work to keep Marin's wild lands accessible, safe and beautiful. Projects range from a single day to several weeks in length and offer the opportunity for training in environmental conservation, hand and power tool use, plant identification and general job training. CCNB also offers the opportunity to receive a high school diploma, intensive English as a Second Language program and support for post-secondary education opportunities and success.


  • Make a one-year, full-time commitment to the program
  • Participate in all aspects of program: paid field work, Career Pathways weekly workshops, and diploma completion program (unless already a high school graduate).
  • Work cooperatively with a diverse group of people
  • Report daily to a crew supervisor and carry out all assigned tasks
  • Do strenuous work in all kinds of weather - heat, rain, wind, etc.
  • Participate in building and maintaining trails, restoring creeks, fire fuel reduction, and flood mitigation projects
  • Participate in fire fuel reduction and flood mitigation projects
  • Provide litter abatement services on public lands
  • Provide recycling collections on public lands
  • Build recycling bins and sort materials collected from bins
  • Participate in education and outreach at public venues around recycling and waste reduction



  • Earn a High School diploma/GED or college credits

  • Leadership/Supervisory training
  • Promotional opportunities include: Safety Officer, Field Education Facilitator, Assistant Crew Leader, Crew Leader
  • Assistance in developing and maintaining a resume and interviewing skills
  • Assistance in applying and paying for post-secondary education opportunities


  • Training in environmental education, community service, leadership skills and more!
  • $16.00 an hour to start, with opportunities for pay raises after 3 months
  • Post-corps job search and education assistance and support for two (2) years


  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Agree to adhere to all CCNB rules and regulations as defined in the CCNB member handbook
  • CCNB is a job training program for young adults 19-30 years old
