Under the supervision of the Buildings & Grounds Director, Housekeeping staff is responsible for assisting members and other staff to consistently maintain a clean, sanitary, and attractive facility, including such duties as mopping, dusting, laundry, and trash removal. May complete duties related to window washing, meeting set up, pressure washing, groundskeeping, and other related responsibilities. This position has a primary impact on the overall effectiveness with which the Sonoma County Family YMCA accomplishes its mission, goals and objectives in serving its membership. It is critical that this position is committed to member/participant/staff satisfaction by providing exemplary service in a clean, safe & supportive environment. Therefore, the effectiveness of the fulfillment of this position will be measured by; cleanliness of the facility, ability to use initiative and good judgment and positive interactions with members and staff.


1. Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. May perform wet and dry mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool deck cleaning, pressure washing, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and general cleaning.

2. Develop and maintain positive relationships with other YMCA staff, members and guests.

3. Wiping down and sanitizing surfaces and equipment

4. Operates related motorized and non-motorized cleaning equipment.

5. Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.

6. Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.

7. Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.

8. Maintains laundry (towels) to ensure consistent supply for members.

9. May set up furniture for events/classes.

10.Other tasks as determined or assigned.


1. Six months or more of related experience preferred.

2. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.

3. Ability to report and record maintenance requests.

4. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.

5. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.

6. Read and understand labels of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

7. Ability to work independently and reason logically & accurately

8. Ability to perform light, physical labor

9. Follow oral and written instructions

10. Must attend required trainings within 90 days of hire. Include but not limited to Emergency Procedures Training, Child Abuse Awareness Training, Customer Service Training, and a New Employee Welcome.

11. Fingerprinting/Background check prior to starting.

Hourly Wage: $15.20-$16.50

Schedule: Weekends
