POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the direction of the Memberships Director and/or the Membership Coordinator, the Member Services Associate is responsible for delivering a high-value experience for our members, staff, volunteers and guests through membership & program sales, conducting tours, engaging with the goal of member and participant retention, and responding to member and guest needs in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides excellent service to members, guests and program participants in the branch and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  • Builds relationships with members, guests and prospects; helps members connect with one another and to the Y.
  • Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Processes all transactions with accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring end of the day deposit is correct.
  • Promotes membership through information sharing, motivational techniques, current promotions and special events.
  • Performs tours of the facility to prospective new members, using Listen First skills and Cause Driven Tour language.
  • Assists with a variety of clerical and administrative tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least one-year customer service experience.
  • Strong computer skills; experience in membership based software a plus.
  • Excellent verbal skills; exhibiting an outgoing, friendly and welcoming personality.
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrate accuracy and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong math skills and experience in cash handling.
  • Ability to multi-task and make sound judgements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish desirable (.50 cent pay differential for Spanish bilingual)
  • Starting Oct 1, 2021, any new hires will be required to show proof of full vaccination prior to employment or if applicable, request a medical or religious exemption.
