SMART Train
Starting service in 2017, Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) is a passenger rail and bicycle-pedestrian pathway project located in Marin and Sonoma counties. It currently offers service from San Rafael to Santa Rosa, stoping in Novato, Petaluma, Cotati, and Rohnert Park along the way. It is planned to eventually serve a 70-mile corridor from Larkspur to Cloverdale.

Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport
Named after the late Peanuts cartoonist Charles M. Schulz who called Sonoma County home for more than 30 years, STS offers easy affordable parking, shorter lines than at other Bay Area airports, good ground transportation, and whimsical Peanuts artwork throughout the airport. The Airport offers nonstop direct flights on:
- Alaska Airlines – Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Portland and Seattle
- American Airlines – Phoenix, Los Angeles, Dallas/Fort Worth
- Sun Country Airlines – Minnesota, Las Vegas
- United Airlines – San Francisco, Denver
All airlines offer a wide-range of connecting flights to destinations in the continental U.S., Mexico, and beyond.
Sonoma County Airport Express offers bus service from Sonoma County to San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (Oak) airports.
Bus
Sonoma County and its cities are linked by a robust bus system that includes Sonoma County Transit, Santa Rosa City Bus, and Petaluma Transit.
Golden Gate Transit offers regional bus service to San Francisco, Marin, and Contra Costa counties.
Cycling
With warm spring and summer months, cycling provides a healthy commuting alternative for Sonoma County residents. Local buses make taking the green option all the more easy, with bike racks on most buses. Sonoma County also benefits from miles of designated cycle paths, both for recreation and the commute.
